In 1992, Tommy Maxwell purchased a struggling unfinished oak flooring plant in Arkansas and began rebuilding the plant with just 33 employees and one flooring line. Today Maxwell has over 200 well trained, motivated flooring professionals operating three manufacturing plants with multiple shifts. In addition, Maxwell is a member of NOFMA. They are the governing body of the unfinished oak flooring industry and they make 2 inspections a year at Maxwell’s plants to verify that they are manufacturing products that meet the grading and milling specifications for our industry. The Maxwell family, office and plant staffs exude a southern charm and positive attitude that makes dealing with them a real pleasure in today’s world of a high pressure, high demand environment. Derr Flooring Co is happy to be one of Maxwell’s earliest customers and excited to be able to distribute not only unfinished oak strip flooring, but also specialty wide width solid plank and their new 4 mm wear layer engineered flooring- Townsend Plank. With multiple generations of family leading both companies, the future is bright for both firms.
